European Association Agreement
If you are from a Central or Eastern European country and your government has signed a treaty with the European Union, you may be able to work on a self employed basis in the United Kingdom. Further information, along with a list of the countries who who have signed the Agreement can be found here. You do not need to fulfil any specific financial criteria, but you will need to show that you can support yourself and your dependants from the proceeds of your self employment.
In all business categories, you will only be granted a limited stay to begin with, but after four years you should be able to apply for indefinite leave to stay in the UK if your business is still prospering.
There may be other ways in which you can come to the United Kingdom on the basis of a business or self employment and you should always seek legal advice about your particular situation.
